SANTA CLAUS IS COMIN’ TO TOWN BY WELDON COMPANY FIRE ENGINE
AS PART OF THIS YEAR’S KESWICK VILLAGE HOLIDAY PROGRAM ON DEC. 13TH
GLENSIDE – Santa Claus is comin’ to town on Sunday, Dec. 13th, but instead of coming in a sleigh pulled by eight tiny reindeer, he’ll arrive by fire engine.
On a shiny red Weldon Fire Company truck that will complement Santa’s traditional red and white ensemble, jolly ol’ Saint Nick will cruise through the streets of Keswick Village greeting excited children and handing out candy canes.
Santa’s visit is part of the 2009 Keswick Village Holiday Program, which will be held rain or shine
and will begin at 4 p.m. at Keswick Avenue and Easton Road. Presented by the Keswick
Merchants and the Abington Economic Development Office, the festive celebration will kick off
with holiday music and caroling by the Joyful Noise Singers. To keep warm, participants will be
able to sip hot chocolate and coffee while enjoying cookies and donuts. Santa will make his
appearance at 5 p.m.
Another fun part of the celebration will be the opportunity to tour Keswick Village by horsedrawn carriage. The carriage rides will be free, compliments of businesses listed on the carriages, and will take place until 6 p.m. as long as the temperature is above 26 degrees. For more information about the holiday program, contact Matt Lahaza at (267) 536‐1002.
“Every year, the Weldon Fire Company looks forward to participating in this joyful community celebration,” said David Schramm, Fire Services Administrator for the Abington Township Fire Department (ATFD). “We thoroughly enjoy the looks on children’s faces when they see their favorite elf atop one of our fire engines. It’s part of what makes the season bright.”
The ATFD is an all‐volunteer force made up of five fire companies all operating within Abington Township. The five companies that form the ATFD are Abington, McKinley, Weldon, Edge Hill, and Roslyn. The service area is made up of approximately 15 square miles of Abington Township and is comprised of residential, commercial, educational, medical, light industrial, and other suburban properties. The ATFD serves approximately 56,000 residents.
The ATFD headquarters is located at 1176 Old York Road in Abington. For more information, call (267) 536‐1055 or visit AbingtonFD.org.
